The Covenant After the Flood: Life, Responsibility, and God’s Promise

The floodwaters have receded, the ark has emptied, and a fresh breeze blows across a world reborn. We find Noah at the altar, worshipping God through sacrifice. It is here, in the aroma of faithfulness, that God establishes a new blueprint for humanity. The story of Noah is often remembered for the animals and the boat, but the "after" is where we find the foundation for how we are to live today. A New Beginning for the Family In Genesis 9:1 , God blesses Noah and his sons with the same mandate given to Adam and Eve: "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth." The earth started over with eight people. God’s design for filling the world has always been through the family—husbands and wives raising children. However, looking at our world today, it often seems we are trying to "un-fill" the earth.
